Reality TV star Venita Akpofure has sparked conversation online after raising concerns about the high cost of electricity in her Lagos residence.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to question what she described as an unusually expensive daily electricity charge in her estate located in Lekki.
In her post, she wrote:
“Please who is managing the electricity units for Haven Homes estates. Why is it 50k a day for 24hrs of light.”
Her complaint has since drawn reactions from Nigerians online, many of whom shared similar experiences with rising electricity costs, especially in highbrow estates where residents often rely on prepaid meters and independent power supply systems.
While some users expressed shock at the figure, others noted that factors such as energy consumption, tariff rates, and estate management policies could influence daily costs.
The development adds to the ongoing conversation around the cost of living in Nigeria, particularly in urban areas like Lagos, where residents continue to grapple with increasing expenses tied to power, housing, and basic utilities.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the management of Haven Homes estate regarding the concerns raised.
