Leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are expected to gather in Abuja on Sunday for the collation and official announcement of the party’s presidential primary election results ahead of the 2027 general election.
The event is scheduled to hold at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Abuja by 5:00 p.m., bringing together party leaders, aspirants, delegates, and supporters from across the country.
According to the party, the gathering marks the final stage of a nationwide presidential primary process that began at the ward level and moved through local government and state structures before the national collation in Abuja.
ADC described the process as a major democratic exercise aimed at strengthening internal democracy and building confidence among party members and Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.
“From ward-level participation to national collation, ADC is showing that internal democracy must be treated with seriousness, order, and transparency,” the party said.
The party noted that Nigerians are closely monitoring political parties and their primary elections following controversies surrounding some recent nomination exercises in the country.
It stressed the need for the process to remain peaceful, transparent, and credible, while urging party leaders and aspirants to place unity above personal ambition.
“The process must be peaceful. The announcement must be credible. The leadership must remain united. The aspirants must respect the outcome. And the party must leave the venue stronger than it entered,” the statement added.
ADC said the presidential primary was only the beginning of a wider political campaign and mobilization effort ahead of the 2027 general election.
“The presidential primary is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of a bigger assignment,” the party stated.
The party called on its members across wards, local government areas, and state chapters to unite behind the eventual presidential candidate and work towards building what it described as “a credible alternative for Nigerians in 2027.”
ADC also said Nigerians are looking for leadership capable of addressing key national issues, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, rising food prices, electricity supply, education, and healthcare.
“The flagbearer must understand that the ticket belongs not to one person, but to a national movement hungry for a new direction,” the statement said.
The party expressed confidence that the conduct of the final collation and announcement process would further strengthen its image as an organized and democratic political platform.
“ADC is organized. ADC is peaceful. ADC is democratic. ADC is ready,” the statement concluded.
