The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has congratulated Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world on the celebration of Eid al-Adha, urging Nigerians to embrace the values of unity, sacrifice, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the minister said the sacred festival serves as a reminder of the virtues of faith, obedience, and devotion to Almighty Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
“This sacred festival reminds us of the timeless virtues of faith, sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and devotion to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS),” Idris stated.
He described Eid al-Adha as a season for reflection, tolerance, and renewed commitment to national unity and shared values.
“It is a season that calls for reflection, unity, tolerance, and renewed commitment to the values that bind us together as one nation,” the minister said.
Mohammed Idris urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the peace, stability, and continued progress of the country, while reaffirming the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains committed to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda and building a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria for all,” he said.
The minister also encouraged citizens to show love and support to the less privileged and to strengthen national unity irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations.
“I encourage Nigerians to use this period to extend love and support to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen the spirit of national unity, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences,” he added.
He prayed that the blessings of Eid would bring peace, joy, and prosperity to Nigerians, while asking Allah to accept the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful.
“May the blessings of Eid bring peace, joy, and abundant prosperity to every home, and may Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices. Eid Mubarak,” Idris stated.
