FG Swears In Eight Federal Commissioners

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday administered the Oath of Office to eight Federal Commissioners, inaugurating two members of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and six members of the National Population Commission (NPC), with a charge to uphold integrity, professionalism and dedication to national service.

The two newly sworn-in RMAFC Commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, while the six National Population Commission Commissioners are Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.

Speaking shortly after administering the oath at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Tinubu urged the commissioners to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving the nation with diligence and transparency.

“Your appointment is a call to national service. I expect each of you to discharge your responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to the Nigerian people,” the President said.

He stressed the importance of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission and the National Population Commission in advancing the administration’s reform agenda, noting that effective fiscal management and credible demographic data remain essential to sustainable national development.

“These institutions play strategic roles in our nation’s development. Your work must strengthen public confidence, promote accountability and support evidence-based planning for Nigeria’s future,” Tinubu added.

Hajiya Gamawa, from Bauchi State, is a legal practitioner with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Jos and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the London School of Journalism. She has served in several public institutions, including the National Assembly, the Corporate Affairs Commission, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, and played a key role in establishing the National Blood Transfusion Service.

Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, from Kaduna State, is a law graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with postgraduate qualifications in international law, diplomacy, peace and security studies. He previously served as Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and later as Federal Commissioner and Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

Among the newly inaugurated National Population Commission members, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, previously chaired the state’s COVID-19 Task Force, while Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, from Ekiti State, brings more than 25 years of experience in information technology and supply chain management consulting, having most recently served as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

Also inaugurated were Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, a Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Bayero University, Kano; Suleiman Umar, a retired Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service; Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya, a career officer who rose through the ranks of the National Population Commission to become Director of Public Affairs; and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, who was reappointed as Federal Commissioner for a second term.

The swearing-in ceremony underscores the Tinubu administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions responsible for fiscal governance, equitable revenue allocation and the production of reliable demographic data to support national planning and development.
