Global professional services firm Deloitte Africa has endorsed the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, pledging to support Nigeria’s efforts to attract investment, create jobs and develop the country’s youthful workforce.
The commitment was made on Wednesday during a meeting between President Tinubu and a Deloitte Africa delegation led by its Chief Executive Officer, Ruwayda Redfearn, at the State House in Abuja.
Speaking at the meeting, President Tinubu said his administration’s fiscal, revenue and tax reforms had steadily stabilised the economy and laid the foundation for sustainable growth.
“We are following the example of Deloitte’s greatness to change things from the foundation, building the necessary future for our people,” the President said.
He acknowledged that the reforms had been difficult but insisted they were yielding positive results.
“Yes, reforms are difficult. It has not been a McDonald’s customer relationship but a harvester of good things, if implemented well, and that is what we are about.”
Tinubu thanked Deloitte for recognising the government’s reform agenda and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the reforms.
“The reforms on revenue will continue to stimulate growth. Some issues are difficult because people have to take the bitter medicine, but it is working well. For the economy, Nigeria is making serious foundational progress,” he said.
The President also urged the firm to deepen its engagement in Nigeria by investing in skills development and creating opportunities for young people.
“Deloitte has a good training programme, and I believe you will continue to reflect that,” Tinubu said.
Redfearn commended the administration’s reform efforts and pledged Deloitte’s full support.
“We are before you to say that we want to serve. We have a local team on the ground that is ready, as well as the global firm, to support you and support your administration as you lead the country,” she said.
She noted that Deloitte employs more than 500,000 people globally, including over 6,000 across Africa, and generated $74 billion in revenue in 2025, adding that the firm’s expertise in digital and business transformation would be available to support Nigeria’s development agenda.
Also speaking, Deloitte West Africa Chief Executive Officer, Yomi Olugbenro, said the firm’s priority was to ensure the benefits of the reforms reached ordinary Nigerians.
“We believe that the ground has been solidly laid. The bigger work is really about how to cascade some of those big reforms further down and deliver the dividends of democracy to ordinary Nigerians on the street,” he said.
Olugbenro added that Deloitte would leverage its global experience in supporting governments around the world to help Nigeria maximise the gains of its reforms.
“So that is why we are here, and we welcome the invitation that you may grant us as to where exactly you want us to support you,” he said.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, also urged Deloitte to partner with the government in building the capacity of young Nigerians through training and skills development.
