She said quality teachers and strong institutions remain the foundation of national development, noting that the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) are driving reforms aimed at improving foundational learning, enhancing teacher quality, strengthening governance and accelerating digital transformation in the education sector.

Professor Ahmad said the Federal Government views investment in teachers as one of the most strategic investments in national development, stressing that education reforms cannot succeed without a competent, motivated and professional teaching workforce.

“Quality teachers and strong institutions remain the foundation of national development,” she said.

She explained that the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) are focused on transforming the education sector through reforms that prioritise foundational learning, teacher quality, effective governance and digital innovation.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative are advancing reforms to improve foundational learning, strengthen teacher quality, enhance governance and accelerate digital transformation across the education sector.”

The minister urged the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria to remain at the forefront of promoting professionalism and maintaining high standards within the teaching profession.

“TRCN must continue promoting professional standards, ethical practice and continuous teacher development.”

She also challenged the Council to embrace technology in its operations to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery.

“Leverage technology to improve communication, data management and service delivery.”

Professor Ahmad further called for stronger partnerships among education stakeholders to prepare Nigerian teachers for the demands of modern classrooms.

“There is a need for stronger collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Education, TRCN, the Nigeria Union of Teachers and other stakeholders to equip teachers with the digital competencies required for 21st-century education.”

Reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to the sector, the minister said the Ministry would continue supporting initiatives that strengthen teacher professionalisation and institutional excellence.

“The Federal Ministry of Education remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen teacher professionalisation, institutional excellence and technology-driven service delivery.”
