Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, has urged Delta State to harness its vast economic potential by attracting investments and translating opportunities into sustainable prosperity.
Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, Oyedele said Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms are laying a stronger foundation for investment and long-term growth, but stressed that states must take advantage of the improved macroeconomic environment.
“Potential is valuable, but prosperity comes from unlocking it,” he said.
According to him, while the Federal Government is focused on restoring macroeconomic stability through bold reforms, the real impact will depend on how states utilise the opportunities created.
“The Federal Government is focused on restoring macroeconomic stability through bold reforms,” Oyedele said.
He added, “States have the unique responsibility of turning that stability into jobs, thriving businesses, improved infrastructure and better living standards for their people.”
Describing Delta as one of Nigeria’s economically strategic states, Oyedele said it possesses the resources needed to become a major investment destination.
“Delta State is richly endowed with natural resources, a strategic coastline, fertile land and enormous investment opportunities,” he said.
He, however, noted that natural endowments alone do not guarantee development.
“The challenge and the opportunity is to transform these advantages into lasting prosperity through visionary leadership and private sector investment,” Oyedele said.
Calling for stronger collaboration between government and investors, he stressed the need to create an enabling environment where businesses can thrive.
“The future belongs to places where ideas are executed and investments are protected,” he said.
Oyedele said sustained economic growth would depend on policies that encourage investment, strengthen public-private partnerships and ensure that economic reforms translate into tangible benefits for citizens.
