Georgina Rodriguez has explained why she chose an intimate wedding at home with football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo instead of the lavish ceremony she once dreamed of having.
The couple recently announced their marriage in a joint Instagram post after exchanging vows at their mansion in Cascais, Portugal, surrounded by the warmth and privacy of their family setting.
Speaking to Vogue, Rodriguez said her vision of a dream wedding changed with time. She recalled that as a child, she imagined a grand celebration filled with luxury and glamour, but her priorities are different today.
“As a little girl, I dreamed of the biggest castle, the most beautiful carriage, the longest dress and a diamond crown,” she said.
“But now I say no. I want something intimate, something with my partner and our children, in our home.”
Rodriguez said the couple’s access to luxury made a simple family celebration even more valuable to them.
“We have castles, houses, islands, horses and cars every day. But an intimate gathering is something much more special for us,” she added.
She also revealed that choosing their living room as the venue was intentional because it is where the family shares some of its most ordinary and treasured moments.
“We chose to hold the ceremony in our living room, the place where we have breakfast, lunch and dinner and where we live our daily lives,” Rodriguez explained.
According to her, the decision was also made with their children’s memories in mind. She hopes they will one day look back on the home as the place where their parents made one of their most important commitments.
“In 30 years, I want our children to remember that something wonderful happened at this table — the wedding vows of their parents,” she said.
