Ifedayo Agoro has compared a woman who only loves her husband when he can provide to a man who only loves his wife when she is young and beautiful, saying neither is a genuine form of love.
Agoro, founder of Diary of a Naija Girl, made the remark in a social media post that has sparked conversations about marriage, money and the expectations placed on partners.
She questioned women who, she said, withdraw their love, patience and respect when their husbands can no longer provide financially.
Her argument was that such behaviour is no different from men who value their wives only for their youth, beauty and ability to cook.
The post, shared on August 18, 2026, had attracted about 180,000 views, drawing reactions to the question of whether love should remain constant when a partner’s circumstances change.
