President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later on Tuesday.
The Presidency disclosed this in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on September 29, 2026.
According to the statement, Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending one week in London before proceeding to Paris.
The Presidency said the President would first return to Lagos, where he is expected to participate in activities honouring the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, a central figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
“The Nigerian leader chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle,” the statement said.
Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola on Independence Day at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
The Presidency described the event as part of activities honouring Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 presidential election, whose election was annulled by the military government.
“On Independence Day, the President will attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 election,” the statement added.
While in Lagos, Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
According to the Presidency, the meetings will take place over several days before the President returns to Abuja.

The President’s working vacation began on August 30, when he departed Abuja for London. After spending one week in the United Kingdom, he proceeded to Paris, where he held a number of engagements.
During his stay in the French capital, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The Presidency did not disclose details of the discussions at the private dinner but said the President also used his time in Paris to engage with prominent business leaders.

Tinubu’s engagements in France also included an investment-related event involving the Ogun State Government and DP World.
Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the construction of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone in the area.
The Presidency said the proposed project represents a major investment in Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sector.
“DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators, plans to invest $7 billion for the seaport and the economic zone,” the statement said.
The proposed investment is expected to support the development of maritime infrastructure in Ogun State and expand the state’s role in Nigeria’s logistics and port economy.
The President’s return to Lagos will also see him combine the Independence Day programme with political engagements before returning to Abuja.
The Presidency said Tinubu would return to the nation’s capital after completing his political meetings in Lagos.
“President Tinubu will return to Abuja after his political engagements in Lagos,” the statement concluded.
