Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared a personal story about how his strong focus on work and money made him lose a woman he believes was his soulmate.
Speaking during an interview on Jay On Air, the actor said there was no serious problem in the relationship, except that he was hardly available for her.
“There was nothing really wrong between us, All she wanted was my presence,”Timini said.
He explained that at the time, he believed providing financially was the best way to show love. Because of the pressure to succeed and “put food on the table,” he expected his partner to understand his absence. Instead, the relationship slowly fell apart, and she later married someone else.
“I’m convinced that she was my soulmate,” he said. “Losing her is one of my biggest regrets.”
Timini said the experience taught him an important lesson about relationships. While money is important, he now understands that it cannot replace emotional connection.
“Money is just one out of many things that matter, If all you can bring into a relationship is money, then you’re a very shallow man,” he said.
The actor stressed the need for emotional availability, such as listening, paying attention, remembering small details, and being present in a partner’s life.
He admitted that poor communication and selfish behaviour played a role in the failure of his past relationships.
“I had to sit with myself and admit my mistakes,” he said.
adding that he has grown through self reflection and accountability.
Timini warned that focusing only on money can attract the wrong people or change a good partner into someone who values only material things.
