The African Democratic Congress has intensified preparations for the 2027 General Elections as more than 80 gubernatorial aspirants participated in the party’s nationwide screening exercise.
The exercise, conducted as part of the party’s internal democratic process, drew aspirants from various states across the federation, reflecting what party officials described as increasing national support for the ADC and its vision for governance in Nigeria.
According to the party, the large turnout demonstrates the growing confidence Nigerians are placing in the ADC as a platform for credible leadership, democratic inclusion, grassroots development, and national renewal.
“The overwhelming participation we witnessed during the screening exercise is a clear sign that Nigerians are ready for a credible political alternative,” the party stated.
Party stakeholders said the screening process provided an opportunity to assess the competence, readiness, and leadership capacity of aspirants seeking to fly the ADC flag in the upcoming governorship elections.
“This process is not just about selecting candidates; it is about identifying leaders with the vision, integrity, and capacity to deliver meaningful governance to the people,” the statement added.
The ADC noted that aspirants who took part in the exercise shared a common commitment to purposeful leadership, service delivery, and strengthening democratic institutions across the country.
“Our focus remains on strengthening internal democracy and ensuring that only capable and people-oriented leaders emerge through a transparent process,” the party said.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to deepening internal democracy and providing Nigerians with leaders prepared to address the country’s socio-economic and governance challenges.
Political observers say the increasing activities within the ADC signal growing momentum for the party as it seeks to position itself as a major force in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027.
“The movement is growing, hope is rising, and Nigerians are beginning to see the ADC as a platform for national renewal and inclusive development,” the statement said.
