APC Denies Allegations of Coercion in Membership Registration.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants are being pressured to participate in its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, describing the allegation as false and misleading.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, he revealed the accusation was borne out of fear and intimidation over the massive turnout recorded in the party’s e-registration drive.

“Terrified by the massive APC membership registration in the ongoing electronic-registration exercise, the ADC has spewed a nonsensical allegation that civil servants were being pressured to participate in our party’s e-registration exercise,” Morka said.

He stressed that the claim was “entirely false and baseless,” adding that it was part of a broader disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting what he described as a landmark digital innovation by the ruling party.

“This claim seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting edge and pathbreaking digitisation of our party’s membership register,” he stated.

Morka further accused the ADC of fabricating and circulating a fake APC membership slip allegedly linking a notorious terrorist to the party.

“It is part of ADC’s disinformation campaign that included the fabrication and circulation of a fake APC membership slip, purporting that a notorious terrorist had registered as a member of APC,” he said.

According to the APC spokesman, the surge in registrations reflects Nigerians’ growing confidence in the party and the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Inspired by the visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, millions of Nigerians have registered and continue to register voluntarily and enthusiastically as members of our party,” Morka noted.

He explained that the overwhelming response necessitated an extension of the registration period.

“Our leadership yielded to popular demand to extend the period of registration from January 31 to February 8, 2026,” he added.

Morka Stressed the ADC’s reaction was driven by intimidation over the success of the exercise but insisted that spreading falsehoods could not justify attempts to smear the process.

“While the ADC continues to fumble and peddle falsehood, our great party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation,” he said.

The APC’s electronic registration exercise is part of efforts to modernise its membership database and strengthen internal democracy ahead of future political engagements.
