The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a comprehensive revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, outlining key dates for its internal nomination processes, including primaries, screening, and appeals.
The schedule, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, aligns with provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the document, the notice of election to state chapters was issued on April 20, 2026, while the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms is scheduled to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026. The deadline for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is fixed for May 4, 2026.
Screening of aspirants for various offices including State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential positions will take place between May 6 and May 9, 2026. The publication of screening results is slated for May 11, followed by screening appeals from May 12 to May 13.
The party has scheduled its primary elections across different offices between May 15 and May 23, 2026. Specifically, House of Representatives primaries will hold on May 15, Senate on May 18, State Houses of Assembly on May 20, governorship on May 21, and the presidential primary on May 23.
Appeals arising from the primaries will be heard between May 18 and May 25, depending on the office contested.
On the cost of nomination, the APC fixed the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at varying rates. Presidential aspirants are expected to pay a total of N100 million, comprising N30 million for Expression of Interest and N70 million for Nomination Forms. Governorship aspirants will pay N50 million in total, while Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly aspirants will pay N20 million, N10 million, and N6 million respectively.
The party, however, granted concessions to female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities, who are required to pay for the Expression of Interest forms and only 50 percent of the Nomination Form fees.
In addition, the APC specified designated bank accounts with Union Bank of Nigeria, United Bank for Africa, and Zenith Bank for all payments related to the purchase of forms, stressing that transactions must be made directly into the approved accounts.
Felix Morka, APC National Publicity Secretary, said In a statement issued in Abuja on April 27, 2026 the revised timetable reflects the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections.
“The revised schedule provides clear timelines for all activities, including screening, appeals, and primary elections, as well as detailed guidelines on the sale of forms and payment procedures,” Morka said.
He added that the measures were designed to ensure transparency and credibility.
“This timetable is structured to guarantee a transparent, orderly and credible nomination process across all levels of the party,” he stated.
Morka also emphasised compliance with the approved financial channels.
“All payments must be made strictly through the designated bank accounts approved by the party. This is to ensure accountability and eliminate any form of irregularities in the process,” he said.
He urged aspirants and party stakeholders to adhere strictly to the schedule.
“We call on all aspirants and stakeholders to carefully study the timetable and comply fully with the timelines and guidelines provided. Timeliness and adherence are critical to the success of this exercise,” Morka added.
Reiterating the party’s commitment to internal democracy, he noted that the process is designed to be fair to all contestants.
“Our processes are designed to provide a level playing field for all aspirants and to ensure that the will of party members is respected at every stage,” he said.
The APC noted that the adjustments are part of efforts to streamline its internal processes and ensure a smooth and well-coordinated nomination exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
