The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a purported list of its senatorial candidates circulating on social media, describing it as fake and unauthorized.
In a statement on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the publication titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” did not emanate from the party and should be disregarded.
“The APC wishes to state that the said list is FAKE, and did not emanate from the Party,” Morka said.
He urged party members, stakeholders, the media, and the general public not to rely on or circulate the document.
“Accordingly, Party members, stakeholders, the media, and the general public are advised to disregard the publication in its entirety,” he stated.
The APC emphasized that only its National Working Committee (NWC), through officially authorized channels, has the authority to announce candidates emerging from party primaries and other constitutional processes.
“Only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, acting through its duly authorized channels of communication, is empowered to announce the list of candidates emerging from its primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes,” Morka added.
The party also warned against the spread of unverified information capable of causing confusion and misleading the public.
“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” the statement said.
The disclaimer comes amid growing political activities and heightened interest in the party’s candidate selection process ahead of future elections.
