Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has released its timetable and schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, setting the stage for the selection of its candidates.
The schedule, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, outlines timelines for the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms, screening of aspirants, appeals, and the conduct of primary elections.
Speaking on the development, Argungu said the timetable reflects the party’s commitment to due process and internal democracy.
“This timetable provides a clear, transparent, and structured pathway for all aspirants and stakeholders. We are determined to ensure that every stage of the process is conducted in line with the highest standards of fairness and credibility,” he said.
The APC noted that the early release of the schedule would give aspirants and party members adequate time to prepare and participate effectively in the process.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, reassured members and Nigerians of the party’s readiness to deliver credible primaries.
“The APC remains committed to conducting free, fair, and transparent primary elections that will not only produce credible candidates but also deepen internal democracy within the party,” Morka said.
“We call on all party members and stakeholders to engage constructively and abide by the guidelines as we work towards a successful 2027 general election.”
The release of the timetable signals the formal commencement of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, as political activities gradually gather momentum across the country.
