The Federal Government has launched the Digital Training Academy (DTA) to provide 32,000 Nigerians with access to world-class digital skills training in high-demand areas of the economy.
Through the initiative, beneficiaries will receive government-funded access to training from Coursera and Pluralsight in areas including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, software development and IT automation.
The government said the programme is designed to equip Nigerians with skills and globally recognised certifications needed to compete in the digital economy.
The initiative is being implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI).
Speaking on the initiative, the government said, “Through the DTA, we are providing 32,000 Nigerians with government-paid access to world-class training from Coursera and Pluralsight.”
It added that the programme would help address the gap between education, skills and employment by connecting “learning to skills, skills to certification, and certification to real jobs and enterprise.”
The government said the initiative would also adopt a “One Government” approach by linking the DTA with existing skills-development programmes.
“Learners trained through the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme now have another pathway to globally recognised certification,” it said.
It added that the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP) would help connect the growing pool of trained Nigerians with opportunities in the global marketplace.
According to the government, the integration of the programmes is aimed at ensuring that government initiatives complement one another rather than operate independently.
“This is how government programmes should work: together, not in silos,” it said.
The government urged beneficiaries to take the training seriously and make effective use of the opportunity to improve their employment and entrepreneurial prospects.
“My message to every beneficiary is simple: take this opportunity seriously,” it said.
“We are investing in your potential. Make it count,” the government added.
