FG Pushes Education Reform Projects in Kano

The Federal Government has intensified efforts to improve access to quality education and accelerate digital transformation in schools, with the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, inspecting and commissioning strategic education projects in Kano State.

The minister said the interventions were part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Education, which focuses on expanding learning opportunities, strengthening human capital development and building a knowledge-based economy.

During his visit to the Bilingual School in Ungogo, Alausa expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, which is now over 90 per cent complete. He directed relevant authorities to begin preparations for teacher recruitment ahead of the school’s planned opening to welcome its first set of learners in September.

“Every child deserves access to quality education, and every learner deserves the opportunity to thrive,” the minister said.

Alausa said the Federal Government was committed to ensuring that more Nigerian children are brought into the education system and provided with the skills needed to succeed.

He noted that through the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), the government had made significant progress in tackling the challenge of out-of-school children.

“Through NESRI, we have already returned over one million out-of-school children to the classroom, and we remain focused on ensuring every child stays in school and succeeds,” he said.

The minister also commissioned the upgraded digital e-library at Federal Government College, Kano, describing the facility as a major step towards integrating technology into teaching and learning.

According to him, the modern learning hub will provide students with access to digital resources and equip them with the skills required to compete in today’s technology-driven world.

“Digital transformation is central to the future of education. We must prepare our learners with the tools and skills needed to participate effectively in the knowledge economy,” Alausa stated.

He said the government’s education reforms are not limited to infrastructure development but also include improving learning outcomes, expanding access to technology, supporting teachers and creating an environment where students can reach their full potential.

The minister also visited other education initiatives across the state, including engagements in Tofa and the Tarda Smart School project, where he highlighted the impact of partnerships, innovation and technology in reshaping the country’s education sector.

Alausa said the successes recorded through these interventions demonstrate the importance of collaboration between federal institutions, state governments, schools and development partners.

“Across every engagement, we saw the impact of collaboration, innovation and our shared commitment to transforming education,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing reforms that will expand educational opportunities, strengthen human capital and support President Tinubu’s vision of a competitive, knowledge-based Nigerian economy.

The minister added that the government would continue to invest in school infrastructure, digital learning platforms, teacher development and programmes aimed at ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality education.
