The Federal Government has successfully conducted the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Federal and State Technical Colleges, alongside a pilot Computer-Based Test (CBT) organised by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
The examination was held nationwide and recorded a smooth exercise across centres, including Federal Technical College, Orozo, and Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja.
Representing the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, the Director of Technology and Science Education, Mrs. Patricia Ogungbemi, monitored the exercise and encouraged candidates to embrace technical and vocational education as a pathway to skills development, entrepreneurship and employment.
“Technical and vocational education remains one of the most effective pathways to self-reliance and economic empowerment. We encourage young Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities available in our technical colleges to acquire practical skills that are relevant in today’s economy,” she said.
Ogungbemi noted that graduates of technical colleges are well-positioned to benefit from government-supported initiatives designed to promote innovation, job creation and economic growth.
A key highlight of the exercise was the pilot CBT conducted after the conventional examination. The test was designed to assess readiness for a future transition to a fully computer-based examination system.
Speaking on the initiative, she said, “The pilot CBT is an important step in our journey towards a fully digital examination process. It allows us to assess our preparedness and ensure that future examinations are conducted with greater efficiency, transparency and integrity.”
She added that the successful conduct of both exercises demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to modernising education through technology.
“The smooth conduct of the entrance examination and the CBT pilot underscores our resolve to strengthen assessment integrity, expand access to quality technical education and leverage technology to improve learning outcomes across the country,” she said.
The Ministry said the exercise marks another milestone in the Federal Government’s drive to transform technical education and prepare Nigerian youths for emerging opportunities in the modern workforce.
