German Embassy Directs Nigerian Student Visa Applicants to Lekki Centre

The German Embassy in Nigeria has announced a major change to its student visa application process, stating that all applications will now be handled through a dedicated visa application centre in Lagos.

In a notice posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, the embassy said prospective students will no longer submit their applications at the consulate. Instead, applicants will be processed through a centre operated by VFS Global in Lekki.

“This means that you will be invited to the centre, not the consulate, when an appointment is assigned to you after registering online,” the embassy stated.

The new system requires applicants to first register online before they can secure an appointment. Only after completing this step will they be invited to the visa application centre.

The embassy emphasized that the change is part of efforts to streamline the application process and improve efficiency in handling student visa requests.

“Prospective students will no longer submit applications at the consulate,” the notice added, underscoring the shift to the Lekki-based facility.

While the embassy did not specify whether the update would affect processing timelines, it urged applicants to strictly follow the new procedure to avoid delays.
