ICPC Partners Content Creators to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Campaign

The Borno State Office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has begun a collaboration with digital content creators and social media influencers to strengthen anti-corruption advocacy through online platforms.

The partnership emerged during a courtesy visit by the Borno State Chapter of the Content Creators and Social Media Influencers Association to the ICPC office in Maiduguri.

Speaking during the meeting, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Linus Gubbi, said social media had become a powerful tool for shaping public attitudes and could be effectively used to promote integrity and accountability.

Gubbi urged the influencers to amplify the Commission’s anti-corruption messages across digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube and WhatsApp.

He also encouraged the creators to simplify anti-corruption messages by translating them into local languages and presenting them in culturally relatable formats.

“Content creators have the reach and creativity to influence public behaviour. By producing engaging materials such as short videos, skits and animations, they can help educate citizens on the dangers of corruption and its negative impact on national development,” he said.

The commissioner further urged the group to sensitise their followers on how to report corrupt practices through the commission’s official communication channels, noting that public participation remains vital in the fight against corruption.

Gubbi also assured the association that the commission would organise periodic seminars and capacity-building programmes to equip members with the knowledge needed to support anti-corruption advocacy.

Responding on behalf of the association, the Chairman of the Borno State Chapter, Williams Sunday, commended the ICPC for the engagement and pledged the group’s support for the commission’s mandate.

Sunday said members of the association were ready to use their digital platforms and creative skills to promote transparency and discourage corrupt practices.

“The fight against corruption requires collective responsibility. As content creators, we are prepared to contribute by producing educational and engaging content that promotes integrity in society,” he said.

The meeting ended with both parties expressing commitment to sustained collaboration aimed at promoting ethical values and strengthening the anti-corruption campaign in Nigeria.
