A man posing as a parent has stabbed four young children to death at a daycare centre in Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division of Kampala, Uganda, in a shocking attack that has left the community in mourning.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Okello, reportedly gained access to Ggaba Early Childhood Day School on Thursday, April 2, 2026, by pretending to be a parent before launching the attack on children aged between two and three years, according to police.
Authorities said the assailant was armed with a knife and carried out the attack within the school premises, targeting the toddlers during school hours. Emergency responders were alerted, but the victims were confirmed dead at the scene.
Police spokeswoman Racheal Kawala confirmed the incident, describing it as a tragic and brutal act.
“We confirm a tragic incident at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Programme school in Makindye Division, Kampala City, where a male suspect brutally stabbed and killed four juveniles,” she said.
Security agencies have since arrested the suspect, and an investigation is underway to determine his motive and how he was able to gain access to the facility without raising suspicion.
The attack has sparked outrage and grief among parents and residents, with many calling for tighter security measures at schools and daycare centres to prevent similar incidents.
