The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has celebrated Nigerians in the diaspora who have secured prominent leadership positions in international organisations, global corporations, healthcare institutions and academic establishments.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described their achievements as a source of national pride, saying they demonstrate the expertise, dedication and capacity of Nigerians to contribute to global development.
Dabiri-Erewa made this known in a statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja, where she commended Nigerians abroad for their accomplishments across various professional fields.
She noted that the reported appointments and professional achievements of Nigerians in the diaspora demonstrated their ability to contribute meaningfully to global development, innovation, research and leadership.

Dabiri-Erewa added that the accomplishments underscored the relevance of President Bola Tinubu’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Agenda, which focuses on Development, Democracy, Demography and Diaspora.
“Their accomplishments reinforce the importance of the Diaspora pillar of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Agenda and the need to engage our citizens abroad as valuable partners in national development,” she stated.
The NiDCOM chief explained that the four pillars provide a framework for understanding the strategic contributions of Nigerians abroad to national development.
She said the Development pillar was advanced when diaspora professionals contributed their expertise, innovation, investments and knowledge to Nigeria’s growth.

Others include Ugwechi Amadi in global corporate strategy, Dr. Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu-Ibrahim in specialised neurosurgery, and Ifeanyi Umunna in student leadership at Harvard Law School.
Dabiri-Erewa said the achievements should serve as an impetus for stronger collaboration between diaspora professionals and institutions in Nigeria, particularly in healthcare, education, research, technology, entrepreneurship and public policy.
She called for deliberate mechanisms to promote knowledge exchange, professional mentorship, investment partnerships and institutional cooperation, noting that Nigeria could benefit significantly from connecting diaspora expertise with national priorities.
The NiDCOM chairman further encouraged young Nigerians to draw inspiration from the accomplishments of their compatriots making an impact internationally.
She emphasised the importance of excellence, integrity, innovation and dedication in professional and public life, urging young people to pursue opportunities that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.
