Niger State Police Investigate Lecturer’s Sudden Death at Young Woman’s Home in Minna

The Niger State Police Command is investigating the sudden death of a 53-year-old lecturer, Abdulfatai Aiyede, who collapsed while visiting a young woman’s residence in Minna.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun, the incident occurred on January 27, 2026, around 10 a.m. Aiyede, originally from Bida, had traveled to meet 25-year-old nursing student Stella Joseph at her home.

Police reported that Aiyede reportedly began convulsing and collapsed shortly after being served a meal by Stella. He was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Stella Joseph has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. Abiodun confirmed that Aiyede’s body is undergoing a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are urging the public to allow the investigation to proceed, emphasizing that no definitive conclusions have yet been reached.

“The circumstances surrounding this death are unusual, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what happened,” Abiodun said.
