The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has identified the North-Central geopolitical zone as one of its most critical battlegrounds ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the region could play a decisive role in the party’s quest for national victory.
In a political statement, the party said efforts were underway to strengthen grassroots structures across the zone through engagement with respected political figures, community leaders and grassroots organisers.
According to the ADC, the North-Central has suffered years of insecurity, displacement, poor infrastructure and economic hardship despite its strategic importance to Nigeria.
“The North-Central is emerging as one of ADC’s most important battlegrounds ahead of 2027,” the party stated.
It added that the region requires more than campaign promises, stressing that its expansion strategy would be rooted in sustained engagement with local communities.
“ADC’s expansion must therefore be built around genuine local conversations,” the statement said.
The party stressed that every political alliance must translate into electoral strength at the grassroots.
“Every defector must bring real electoral value. Every stakeholder meeting must produce functioning ward and local government structures. Every candidate must understand the unique concerns of farmers, workers, young people and displaced families,” it stated.
The ADC said residents of the North-Central are demanding practical solutions to the challenges confronting the region rather than political rhetoric.
“Communities are tired of leaders who offer sympathy after every tragedy but fail to provide lasting protection or development,” the party said.
It further noted that voters across the zone are seeking leadership that prioritises security, inclusion and development.
“North-Central voters are not looking for another political performance. They want security, inclusion and leadership that respects their contribution to the country,” the statement added.
Expressing confidence in its growing support base, the ADC said disciplined organisation and credible local leadership would be key to its electoral success.
“With disciplined organisation and credible community voices, ADC can turn growing frustration into a powerful democratic movement.”
The party maintained that the North-Central could ultimately determine the outcome of the 2027 elections.
“The road to national victory may run directly through the North-Central,” the statement concluded.
