Ribadu Slams False Online Report on Mother’s Death

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has dismissed as untrue an online report that alleged his mother died on Monday, saying the claim was inaccurate and misleading.

Ribadu issued the clarification in a message shared on his verified X account on Tuesday after being flooded with calls and messages from well-wishers reacting to the report.

The publication had claimed that Mamma Ribadu, described as a revered family matriarch and mother of both the NSA and the Emir of Fufore, Sani Ribadu, passed away at the age of 86. Ribadu, however, said the information was completely false.

“I have received numerous calls and messages from friends and associates following a misleading online report stating that my mother passed away on Monday, 19 January 2026,” he said.

The NSA explained that his mother had died 28 years ago, stressing that she could not have passed away on the date reported. “The report is false and misleading. My mother of blessed memory passed on 28 years ago,” he stated.

He further clarified that the death reported on Monday was that of Hajja Mamma Sulaiman Ribadu, the wife of his late uncle. Offering prayers, Ribadu said, “May Allah SWT forgive her shortcomings, bless her soul, and grant her Aljannat Firdaus.”

Ribadu expressed appreciation to those who contacted his family to offer support and condolences, praying that their kindness would be rewarded, while urging accuracy and restraint in the reporting of sensitive family matters.
