President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a trusted partner and patriot whose life has been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice.
In a statement issued by the State House on Tuesday, President Tinubu commended Shettima for his contributions to Borno State and Nigeria, particularly his years in public service as governor of Borno State and subsequently as Vice President.
Tinubu said Shettima had demonstrated “courage, diligence, compassion and an abiding commitment to improving the lives of the people” in both capacities.
The President congratulated Shettima’s wife, Nana, his children, family and political associates on the milestone, describing the Vice President not only as a trusted ally and valued colleague but also as a patriot committed to Nigeria’s progress and unity.
He said Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), support for the administration and dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda were particularly worthy of recognition.
“I acknowledge, in particular, Vice-President Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), support for the administration and his unwavering dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Tinubu said.
The President also praised Shettima’s role as Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC), saying he had provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policies and promoting collaboration between the Federal Government and the sub-national governments.
“As Chairman of the National Economic Council, Shettima has provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policy and fostering collaboration among the Federal Government and the sub-nationals,” he said.
Tinubu further commended the Vice President’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation, saying these qualities had contributed to strengthening good governance.
He described Shettima’s loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty as invaluable to the administration.
“As a trusted partner, his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration,” the President said.
Tinubu also thanked the Vice President for his continued support and partnership in implementing the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
“I must thank Vice President Shettima for his steadfast support and partnership as we continue to join hands in delivering the promises of Renewed Hope to Nigerians,” he said.
The President expressed confidence that continued collaboration between him and Shettima would enable the administration to make meaningful progress towards building the Nigeria of their dreams.
“On behalf of the Federal Government, I again congratulate Vice President Shettima on this milestone, and I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to guide, protect, and strengthen him,” Tinubu said.
He prayed that Allah would grant the Vice President wisdom, good health and many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria.
