Tinubu Congratulates Benin’s President-Elect Wadagni

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Romuald Wadagni on his victory in the Republic of Benin’s presidential election, describing the outcome as a reflection of the people’s trust in his leadership and record in public service.

Wadagni, who currently serves as Benin’s Minister of Finance, secured an overwhelming majority of votes in the election held on April 12.

In a letter addressed to the President-elect, Tinubu praised the peaceful conduct of the polls and commended the resilience and democratic commitment of the Beninese people. He noted that Wadagni’s emergence marks a significant moment in the country’s political history.

“Your victory reflects the trust the Beninese people have placed in your vision and your distinguished record of service,” Tinubu stated.

The Nigerian leader also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, anchored on shared cultural ties and regional cooperation. He expressed optimism about deepening collaboration between both nations under Wadagni’s leadership.

“Our two nations share a long history of friendship, cultural ties, and cooperation. I look forward to working closely with your administration to strengthen our bilateral relations further, enhance regional security, and promote economic prosperity within the ECOWAS sub-region and the African Union,” the President said.

Tinubu further assured Wadagni of Nigeria’s support as he prepares to assume office, wishing him wisdom, strength, and success in steering the affairs of his country.
