Yoruba Actress Aunty Ajara Is Dead

Popular Yoruba actress Ajara Lasisi, widely known as Aunty Ajara, has died in the early hours of Thursday, her family has confirmed. The announcement was made by her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, who thanked colleagues and members of the public for their support during her illness and appealed for an end to further financial contributions raised for her treatment

The news of Aunty Ajara’s passing was shared in a video message by Ridwan Lasisi, who expressed the family’s appreciation for the concern and assistance they received from the Yoruba film community and the general public.

“Good morning to you all. My name is Ridwan Lasisi. I am a brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on,” he said.

He added that the family was grateful for the goodwill shown to them during the difficult period. “We want to use this moment to appreciate everyone. We appreciate the president and all members of the industry,” Ridwan stated.

Lasisi also appealed to the public to stop sending money into the account that had been opened to support her medical treatment.

“We also use this opportunity to appeal to those still sending money to please stop. The reason for the contributions is no longer there. We do not want you to send money into that account again. Thank you very much,” he said.

The actress’s health challenges became public last week after fellow actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke appealed for financial support on her behalf. Oshodi-Oke disclosed that Aunty Ajara had been hospitalised in critical condition and was dependent on an oxygen machine.

She noted that despite intensive medical care and the high cost of treatment, the actress’s condition continued to deteriorate, prompting widespread calls for prayers and support from colleagues and fans across the Yoruba film industry.
