Peter of P-Square Addresses Critics Over Change of Birth Date

Nigerian music star and one half of the defunct P-Square duo, Peter Okoye (Mr P), has responded to criticism following his decision to change the date of birth he previously shared with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

Peter recently announced that he would no longer celebrate his birthday on November 18 the widely recognised birth date of the twins but would instead mark it on November 30, a move that generated mixed reactions across social media.

Reacting to the backlash, Peter maintained that the decision was personal and should not be subjected to public debate. He stressed that individuals have the right to make changes in their personal lives without seeking validation or approval from critics.

In response to the criticism he said “I don’t understand why this is even a topic. It is my personal decision, and I don’t owe anyone an explanation.”

He further dismissed the controversy as unnecessary interference, insisting that his choice does not affect anyone else and should be respected. According to him, “People should learn to respect personal decisions and move on from issues that have no impact on them.”

The development has continued to generate discussions online, particularly because Peter and Paul Okoye, who are twins born on November 18, 1981, have traditionally shared and celebrated the same birthday throughout their lives.

Despite the public reaction, Peter has stood firm on his position, reiterating that the adjustment is personal and should not be a subject of controversy.
