Veteran Nollywood actor Tioruju Mondusi has opened up about a deeply painful personal experience, revealing that two out of the five children he raised are not biologically his.
The actor shared the emotional account during a candid conversation, describing the discovery as one of the most difficult moments of his life. According to him, the revelation came after years of fatherhood, during which he had taken full responsibility for all five children.
“I gave them everything—my time, my love, my name. I never treated any of them differently because, to me, they were all mine,” he said.
Mondusi explained that the situation began when tensions arose between him and the children’s mother following a pregnancy he questioned. Concerned and unsettled, he said he searched for her extensively before eventually locating her at her mother’s home.
“I was worried and angry at the same time. I kept asking myself, ‘What is really going on?’ I needed answers,” he recalled.
While there, he noticed a photograph of her with another man displayed in the living room—an image he said immediately raised suspicions.
“I saw the picture clearly. Before anyone could explain, it was already taken down. But I had seen enough to know something wasn’t right,” he said.
The actor said matters came to a head when she returned, leading to a confrontation that would change everything.
“When she came back, I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I asked her directly what was happening,” he said.
What followed, according to him, was a shocking response.
“She looked at me and said, ‘Who told you that you are the father of all these children?’ That question alone shook me,” Mondusi recounted.
The question prompted him to seek clarity about the paternity of the children he had long considered his.
“I told her, ‘These are my children. I named them. I have been there for them from day one.’ But what she said next broke me,” he added.
It was during that conversation, he said, that she disclosed that not all the children were biologically his.
“She said, ‘The first and second are yours, the third is not. The fourth is yours, and the fifth is not.’ I felt like my world stopped,” he said.
According to Mondusi, the revelation left him devastated, especially given the role he had played in their lives.
“I was the one who carried out all their naming ceremonies. I stood before family and friends as their father. To now hear that two of them are not mine—it’s a pain I cannot explain,” he said.
Reflecting on the experience, the actor said the emotional impact still lingers.
“It’s not just about biology. It’s about trust. It’s about the years I can’t take back,” he said. “No man prays to hear something like that after giving his all.”
His story has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for his situation while others weighing in on issues of trust, relationships, and paternity.
“I’m sharing this not for pity, but so people understand that these things happen. Sometimes, the people closest to you can hurt you the most,” he added.
