The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced special train service arrangements to facilitate passenger movement during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement issued by its Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the corporation said additional trips and increased passenger capacity have been deployed across key routes to address the expected surge in travel demand during the festive period.
“The Nigerian Railway Corporation has put in place special train services to ease passenger movement during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations,” the statement read.
The NRC explained that the move is aimed at ensuring seamless travel for Nigerians celebrating Sallah with their families and loved ones.
“Additional trips and increased capacity have been deployed across major corridors to meet the anticipated surge in travel demand,” Unyimadu stated.
Specifically, on the Lagos-Ibadan corridor, three special train trips will run on Thursday, March 19, departing from both Ebute Metta in Lagos and Moniya in Ibadan.
“On the Lagos-Ibadan corridor, three special trips will operate on Thursday, March 19, from both Ebute Metta and Moniya stations. Thereafter, services will revert to the regular timetable,” the statement added.
The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to safe and efficient rail services, urging passengers to take advantage of the arrangements.
“We remain committed to providing safe, efficient, and reliable rail transport services to all passengers,” the NRC assured.
