President Tinubu Begins Three-Country Visit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, on a three-nation visit to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, where he is scheduled to participate in key international engagements.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will first visit France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the Africa-France Summit slated for May 11–12.

The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will deliberate on critical issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and the restructuring of the global financing architecture.

Onanuga stated that the President’s participation “will underscore Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African nations and the French Republic.”

He added that the summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” “will provide a high-level platform for African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on critical issues affecting the continent, including economic transformation, climate resilience, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment.”

Following the Nairobi engagement, President Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14–15.

Describing the forum, Onanuga said, “With the theme ‘Scale or Fail,’ this year’s Africa CEO Forum will be the largest gathering of African private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers, focusing on accelerating economic transformation through shared scale, regional integration, and increased cross-border investment.”

The forum, organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, is expected to convene over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers.

“At the two summits, President Tinubu will deliver statements highlighting his administration’s ongoing reforms to reposition the nation as a prime destination for investment and growth, while also holding high-level meetings with top-tier global and African business leaders,” the statement added.

The President will be accompanied by senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of his engagements in Rwanda.
