A member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a “condemned vehicle,” signalling his intention to leave the party.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Abejide criticised the party’s structure and viability, saying, “ADC is a condemned vehicle.”
He further explained his decision to exit the party, stating, “I have decided to change the broken bricks in the ADC and become a cornerstone in a better political party with a strong structure that will benefit my people.”
The lawmaker suggested that broader political realignments are underway, taking a swipe at some opposition figures. “No wonder the desperate political nomads… are preparing to ‘japa’ to another SPV,” he said.
Abejide also referenced Peter Obi and others in his remarks, although there has been no official confirmation from those mentioned regarding any planned defection.
His comments come amid growing speculation about shifting alliances and the possible emergence of new political coalitions ahead of future elections.
