Governor Sani Warns Against Anti-Democratic Forces

Governor Uba Sani has called on Nigerians to remain vigilant against elements seeking to undermine democracy, as the Presidential Media Team commended ongoing federal and state infrastructure projects in Kaduna State.

The team, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, toured key projects across the state, including major road networks, a skills acquisition centre, and the 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital.

Speaking at a state banquet attended by journalists, Onanuga praised the scale of development in the state, attributing it to improved funding to subnational governments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said, “The administration of Governor Uba Sani has effectively leveraged these resources to address critical infrastructure gaps and improve the quality of life for residents.”

Highlighting the pace of development, Onanuga added, “Some communities in Kaduna went without roads for two decades. Governor Uba Sani is now opening up the state and developing every part of it.”

He further noted, “When I return to Abuja, I will tell Mr President that the money his government has been giving to states is being put to work in Kaduna.”

Governor Sani, in his remarks, urged Nigerians not to be swayed by opposition narratives, warning of attempts to destabilize the country’s democratic process.

“Some of us lost our freedoms. We went to detention. We fought for this democracy. At that time, many journalists lost their freedoms some even lost their lives,” he said.

Recalling past struggles, the governor stated, “We’re talking about the likes of Bagauda Kaltho, Dele Giwa, and many others. It could have been any one of us.”

He stressed the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding democracy, adding that Nigerians must resist “self-serving narratives” driven by political ambition rather than national development.

The governor also commended members of the presidential media team, including Sunday Dare and Tunde Rahman, for their role in promoting democratic values.

“People must realise that we had many sleepless nights in the past, fighting for democracy,” he said.

The tour also included an inspection of the Kaduna-Kano rail project. According to officials from the Federal Ministry of Transportation, the Kaduna-to-Kano section of the railway has reached 68 per cent completion and is expected to be delivered by December 2026.

The 203-kilometre rail line is a key component of the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities across northern Nigeria.
