A 35-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing about 10 shots at the Beverly Hills home of global pop star Rihanna while the singer and her family were inside.
According to law enforcement sources, the suspect fired several rounds from a vehicle on Sunday afternoon, with one bullet reportedly piercing a wall of the mansion.
Police identified the suspect as Ivanna Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman from Florida, who is currently being held on $10.2 million bail.
Officials said the shooting occurred around 1:21 p.m. in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighbourhood after officers responded to reports of gunfire.
“A 35-year-old woman fired approximately 10 shots at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills mansion Sunday from a vehicle,” a law enforcement source said, adding that “a round penetrated a wall of the mansion.”
At the time of the incident, Rihanna was inside the residence with her partner, rapper ASAP Rocky, and their three young children.
“The pop star was home at the time of the incident,” the source said.
Authorities confirmed that the bullets struck parts of the exterior of the home and a vehicle parked outside. Despite the gunfire, no injuries were reported.
“No injuries were reported, and the suspect was arrested at the scene following the early Sunday afternoon incident,” officials said.
Investigators said the suspect allegedly used an AR-15 style firearm during the attack. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
Public records reviewed by authorities show that Ortiz had several previous arrests in Florida, including a 2013 bankruptcy case, a 2021 arrest on suspicion of careless driving, and a 2023 arrest linked to suspected domestic violence and battery.
Records also indicate she worked as a licensed speech pathologist and had no known connection to Rihanna or her partner.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
