Anu Adeleke, who claims to be the daughter of Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly appealed to the singer to undergo a DNA test with her, saying the request is necessary to establish her identity as she grows older.
In a statement shared on her social media page on January 15, 2026, Anu said her decision followed years of emotional struggle and personal reflection. “As I grow older, I want to establish my identity,” she wrote.
She recounted experiencing bullying from a young age after telling classmates that Davido was her father. According to her, the situation caused significant emotional distress. “I was bullied in school since I was six years old and cried home daily,” she said, adding that she sought medical attention to protect her mental health during what she described as “a sad and challenging time.”
Anu said she was raised by her mother and grandmother, who instilled discipline, strong values, and the importance of education. Despite the challenges, she said she remained academically focused and excelled in school, becoming a class prefect and continuing to perform well in secondary school.
Explaining her request, Anu said she was “respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke, Singer @davido, for a DNA test to establish my identity.” She stressed that the request was personal and necessary for her peace of mind. “This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is the right thing to do,” she said, noting that she had also reached out to the singer privately via direct message.
She further thanked members of the public who have supported her over the years. “Thank you to all Nigerians who have given me emotional support for the last seven years,” she added.
However, Davido has publicly denied her claims. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), the singer stated that multiple DNA tests had already been conducted at different medical facilities and all returned negative results.
“Yes I chose three hospitals and they chose their own two hospitals. All came out negative. This is the last time I’m speaking on this nonsense,” Davido wrote.
In another post, he claimed he had never met Anu’s mother outside of the DNA testing process and accused her of misconduct, while expressing sympathy for the girl.
“Never met the bitch … except when we went for the DNA … five hospitals just to be clear … the mom needs to go to jail … I don’t blame the poor girl,” he wrote.
In a final message, Davido reiterated his position and asked to be left alone.
“After five DNA tests … her and her mom should leave me alone and go find her papa,” the singer added.
