Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has entered a new league in the Nigerian film industry after her latest movie, Oversabi Aunty, crossed the N1 billion mark at the box office, securing a place among the highest-earning films in local cinema history.
The December 2025 release has now become the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time, while also making history as the first directorial debut in the industry to generate N1 billion in ticket sales.
Industry distributor FilmOne hailed the feat as a landmark moment, describing the performance as a reflection of growing audience confidence in locally produced blockbusters and the expanding commercial strength of Nollywood.
Beyond the financial milestone, the achievement represents a personal breakthrough for Abraham, marking the first time any of her productions has reached the billion Naira threshold.
In an emotional message to fans and collaborators, the actress and producer thanked Nigerians, her cast and crew, and FilmOne for supporting the project.
“I’m short of words… Oversabi Aunty to the world and still showing in cinemas near you. My first directorial debut on the big screen,” she wrote, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the film’s success.
The record setting run further cements Abraham’s status as one of Nollywood’s most bankable stars and signals a new high point for commercial filmmaking in Nigeria.
