Police Probe Alleged Shooting of Comedian Broda Shaggi During Skit Filming

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it is aware of an incident involving Nigerian comedian Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, who was hospitalised after allegedly sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.

Police said the case came to their attention after a hospital in Lagos alerted authorities that a gunshot victim had been brought in for treatment.

The comedian was initially taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area, where he received emergency care before being transferred to Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja for further treatment.

According to police sources, officers who responded to the alert found the entertainer on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh.

Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said preliminary information indicated that the incident occurred under the Sango-Ota bridge while the comedian and his crew were filming a comedy skit.

She noted, however, that the location of the incident falls outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos command.

“The case reportedly happened in Sango-Ota, Ogun State. However, investigations are ongoing following the report received from the hospital,” Adebisi said.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command said the incident has not yet been formally reported to the command.

Authorities are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting as investigations continue.
