Tinubu Urges Unity, Resilience in Easter Message Amid Security, Economic Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united, resilient, and supportive of ongoing reforms as the nation navigates economic pressures and persistent security challenges.

In his 2026 Easter message released on Friday, the President extended greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, highlighting the spiritual significance of the season. He noted that Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, serves as a reminder of sacrifice, hope, and redemption.

Addressing insecurity, the President acknowledged that threats persist despite ongoing military operations. He praised the efforts of the Armed Forces and assured Nigerians that his administration is intensifying efforts through increased resource allocation and international collaboration.

“Challenges to our security have remained. However, my administration continues to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to enable us to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry,” he stated.

Tinubu also referenced his recent visit to Jos in Plateau State, where he commiserated with communities affected by violence and reassured them of the government’s commitment to restoring peace.

“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” the President said, adding that security agencies have given “strong assurances of progress,” supported by assistance from international partners.

On the economy, Tinubu defended his administration’s reform agenda, acknowledging the immediate hardships while expressing optimism about long-term gains.

“The ongoing reforms, though demanding in their immediate impact, have been carefully put together and backed by a strong commitment to take us to shared prosperity, True transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice,”he said.

Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, the President urged political actors and citizens to uphold democratic values and adhere strictly to the law.

“Let our choices be guided by a shared commitment to peace, continuity, stability, and the long-term good of our country,“Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the nation’s direction, Tinubu said emerging economic indicators suggest progress, adding that “a new dawn is on the horizon.”
